The Art Of Noise

The second of six fashion stories for Daily Mail Ski & Snowboard magazine. The Art Of Noise was shot at night on the streets of Aré in Sweden.

For this story we needed to spend a couple of nights scouting potential locations and preparing the take-offs and landings. The first location was perfect, a railway bridge with a good long rail, easy access and minimal work to build a take off and run in. The trains run every 30 minutes so that also gave us plenty of time to get the shot done. The only tricky bit was the 15-20 ft. drop if things went wrong from the rail to the ground. Darryl was confident though and after an hour of preparations and setting the lights up we got underway. 5-6 takes later the shot was in the bag! Next was the plan to vault the same rail and land on a pile of snow which we had built up. It was a good plan and the shot looks great but both guys kept missing the landing!

Then it was off to a kids play ground to shoot some static shots and one kicker over a wooden fence. By this stage we were all feeling cold and knackered so we moved onto the next location which was a road bridge with a fairly decent wind lip of snow built up underneath it. This made for a good landing but our main concern was the lack of snow for the run in. So a few wooden pallets later and we created a platform for Chris and Darryl to then climb onto the rail and launch themselves off. The landing proved to be quite hard so after 3 jumps each we called it a day as it was getting close to midnight. Please don't try these stunts at home and always remember to build the landing in the right place!
