The Real Christine O.
Adrian was commissioned by Tim Scott from Spikes Magazine to photograph Christine Ohuruogu Britain's Olympic 400m Champion.
Tim wanted to shoot Christine in away she had not been shot before. The idea with the ring light and strip lights was to give a modern feel and to introduce some graphic shapes and lines at the same time. To create the blue feel to the image we simply processed the same image twice once with the correct colour balance and a second time with a Tungsten colour balance. We the overlayed the images in photoshop and pulled areas of the natural image through to contrast with the blue.
The idea behind the rings image was to create a stargate feel as though the rings of light were travelling up along Christine's body. For this we had to shoot the rings seperatly and then drop them in after and add varying amounts of blur to give the feel of motion. Oh and of course the O reflected in her eyes was completely intentional!!!
